Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Float Pool RN for a float position across multiple inpatient units requiring EPIC charting experience and at least one year of relevant nursing experience.
Details
- Float pool position within a Clinical Resource Unit, floating across Medical-Oncology, Surgical-Orthopedic, Cardiovascular Care Unit, Progressive Care Unit, Mental Health Unit, and Acute Rehab
- Cares for diverse patient populations including acute and chronically ill cardiac and pulmonary patients
- Common diagnoses include coronary artery disease, angina, myocardial infarction, dysrhythmia, syncope, congestive heart failure, stroke, cancer, cellulitis, post-surgical care, and chest pain
- Night shift, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM, 24 hours per week, 2 shifts per week
- No on-call requirements
- Every other weekend and every other holiday rotation
- May float to additional facilities including Carle Health Methodist Hospital, Young Minds, Carle Health Pekin Hospital, and Carle Health Proctor Hospital
- Utilizes EMR for documentation
Requirements
- Active IL RN license required (temporary license accepted)
- BLS certification (AHA) required
- College diploma in nursing required
- Minimum one year of relevant nursing experience required
- EPIC charting experience required
- Skilled in IV venipuncture, blood administration, and medication administration
- Experience managing post-operative and complex surgical patient care
- Strong critical thinking and patient assessment skills
- Ability to delegate tasks and provide follow-up with care team members
Additional Information
- Delegates and validates care tasks completed by assigned HCTs
- Completes patient assessments, admissions, discharges, hourly rounding, and care plan documentation
- Administers medications following the 5 Rights of medication administration
- Maintains patient safety through fall precautions, pressure ulcer prevention, isolation precautions, and ambulation safety
- Conducts bedside shift reports and maintains patient communication boards
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care
- Provides patient and family education on care plans and discharge instructions
- Offers peer feedback and participates in professional development
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility as local candidates are not accepted under this rate
- RTO may not exceed 7 total days during the 13-week contract
- Workers may not remain on assignment with this health system for more than 1 year without a 6-month break in service
- Travel agency partners are not accepted for this position
