Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week assignment requiring active MN RN licensure and a minimum of 2 years of recent acute care ICU experience.

Details

  • Adult Medical/Surgical ICU within a hospital nursing float pool
  • 13-week assignment with day/night rotation
  • 36 hours per week, 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week
  • Every 3rd weekend required
  • Uses Epic for charting
  • Unit experience may include Medical ICU, Surgical ICU, or Multispecialty ICU

Requirements

  • Active MN RN license required, no pending licenses accepted
  • Current ACLS and BLS certifications required (AHA or American Red Cross)
  • CCRN certification preferred
  • 2 years of recent acute care ICU nursing experience required
  • 6 months of recent travel nursing experience required, 1 year preferred
  • Rochester MN facilities require 2 years of experience and/or 3 total travel assignments
  • Experience with ventricular assist devices (VAD), Impella, ECMO, or balloon pumps preferred
  • CRRT and/or transplant experience preferred depending on unit
  • Prior Epic charting experience preferred
  • Graduate of an accredited baccalaureate, associate, or diploma nursing program (ACEN or CCNE accredited); additional RN experience required if program was not accredited or graduation was not within the last two years

Additional Information

  • Coordinate nursing care including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care
  • Function within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, applying ANA Scope and Standards of Practice
  • Provide leadership through precepting, mentoring, and quality improvement activities
  • Delegate patient care based on skill level, patient acuity, and available resources
  • Facility may cancel up to 3 shifts per 13-week assignment due to low census
  • Travelers may remain on assignment for up to one calendar year before requiring a 30-60 day break prior to a new assignment
  • COVID vaccination and booster required for consideration
  • On-site work required with no teleworking option

Easy to get overtime, high demand for more workers

Cons

Management is too scared to correct employees. Overtime is mandated almost every shift. It’s very hot be cramped.
