Description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist II with 2+ years of experience for a 13-week day shift assignment at a North Carolina health system.
Details
- Respiratory Therapy department position within a hospital setting
- Day shift hours from 7:00am to 7:00pm
- 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week, 36 hours weekly
- Every other weekend (EOW) coverage required
- Holiday coverage required as needed
- No on-call requirements
- May involve transport of pediatric and neonatal patients via air care protocols
- May involve ECMO management for cardiac and respiratory support when assigned to that service
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist
- Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
- Current RRT certification through the NBRC required
- BLS required
- At least one of the following certifications required based on practice area: ACLS, NRP, PALS, CPFT, or advanced practice certificate for moderate sedation in Bronchoscopy Lab
- License required if applicable
- Skilled in airway management, ventilator care, and specialized ventilator modes
- Experience with aerosol medication delivery, bedside pulmonary function testing, and arterial punctures
- Experience with tracheostomy care, tube changes, and endotracheal intubation/extubation
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret clinical and technical information
- Strong documentation and communication skills with patients, physicians, and staff
- Mathematical and reasoning skills applicable to clinical practice
Additional Information
- Provide airway management, mechanical ventilation, oxygen therapy, and aerosol therapy to patients with respiratory dysfunction
- Perform pulmonary function testing as needed
- Function independently with minimal supervision and serve as a resource to other staff
- Maintain and continually improve respiratory care knowledge and technical skills
- May perform advanced procedures under UNC Air Care Protocol including IV insertion, intraosseous insertion, chest tube insertion, needle decompression, and ABG sampling when assigned to Carolina Air Care
- May manage extracorporeal circulation for cardiac and respiratory support when working with ECMO patients
