Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a NICU/PICU night shift position at a Level I Trauma teaching children's hospital, requiring 2 years of recent NICU/PICU experience.
Details
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 18:00 to 06:30
- NICU unit with an average daily census of 6-10 ventilated patients
- Floating to RRT Adults unit as needed
- Weekend coverage required as needed by the unit, with no more than 3 consecutive weekends
- Must work 2 of 3 major holiday bundles (Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year's)
- Charting system is Cerner
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience in NICU/PICU required
- Both NICU and PICU experience required
- Trauma Level I experience required
- Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
- Self-rated proficiency of 4 required on High Frequency Jet Ventilator (HFJV) and High Frequency Oscillator (HFOV)
- Required certifications: RRT, BLS, ACLS, NRP
- PALS certification preferred
- NM state license required, license required if applicable
- Skilled in endotracheal tube suctioning, extubation, nasal/oral airway placement and suctioning, tracheostomy suctioning, pulmonary toileting, and ABG interpretation
Additional Information
- Provide respiratory care to critically ill neonatal and pediatric patients including ventilator management and airway care
- Assist in high-risk deliveries and manage CPAP, BiPAP, and high frequency ventilation
- Work within a Level I Trauma, teaching, children's hospital setting
- Scrub color is royal blue
- First-time travelers are accepted
- COVID vaccine is optional, but UNMH requires reporting of vaccine status or declination
- RTO requests greater than 7 days require approval
- Local candidates within 100 miles of the facility are not accepted
- Returning staff must have a 12-month separation from prior employment at the facility
