Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Oncology Chemo Certified RN for an outpatient infusion center position requiring ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certification and prior travel experience.
Details
- Outpatient oncology and infusion center setting
- Treats all cancer diagnoses including hematologic malignant and non-malignant conditions
- Patient ratio of 1:8
- Day shift schedule, 5x8-hour shifts from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Epic charting system required
Requirements
- Active TX or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
- BLS certification required
- ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate required (Fundamentals certificate not accepted)
- OCN certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of oncology/chemotherapy nursing experience required
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Skilled in IV therapy, port access and management, and central/PICC line care
- Experienced in chemotherapy administration, biotherapy, and immunotherapy
- Competent in recognizing and managing oncologic emergencies including ATLS, anaphylaxis, extravasation, hemorrhage, sepsis, and spinal cord compression
- Skilled in symptom management and psychosocial care for oncology patients
- Experienced in caring for patients with a wide range of cancer diagnoses
- Proficient in phlebotomy and neutropenic precautions
Additional Information
- Administer and monitor chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatments in an outpatient setting
- Manage ports, central lines, and PICC lines for infusion therapy
- Recognize and respond to abnormal lab values and treatment side effects
- Provide patient and family education, psychosocial support, and symptom management
- Administer blood products, coagulation factors, and pain management medications including IV push narcotics
- Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
- Candidates residing in certain nearby counties are not accepted
- No travel pairs or groups permitted
- Former staff must wait at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
- All RTO must be submitted at time of consideration, with no more than 3 days auto-approved and none during the first week of orientation
- Must complete core onboarding items and labs within 48 hours of contract signing
