Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced NICU RN for a high-risk Level III unit, requiring prior travel experience and TX or compact RN licensure.
Details
- High-risk Level III NICU setting
- Day shift schedule, 4x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- 36 or 48 hours per week considered
- Patient ratio of 1:3
- Attends high-risk deliveries
- Cares for neonates across all gestational ages, including those under 24-28 weeks
Requirements
- Active TX or compact RN license required
- BLS, NRP, and STABLE certifications required
- PALS certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Cerner charting system experience preferred
- Skilled in IV therapy, arterial and central line management, and UAC/UVC care
- Experience administering blood products, vasopressors, antibiotics, and neonatal dosage calculations
- Competent in ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP), high frequency ventilation, and nitric oxide therapy
- Experience with therapeutic hypothermia (cooling blanket) and lumbar puncture assistance
- Charge experience preferred
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include APGAR scoring, developmental care, thermoregulation, and patient/family teaching
- Manages neonatal conditions such as NEC, neonatal sepsis, respiratory distress syndrome, and neonatal abstinence syndrome
- Provides respiratory support including bubble CPAP, HFNC, and suctioning
- Supports feeding methods including breastfeeding, bottle, and gavage feeding
- Performs phototherapy, blood glucose monitoring, and insulin administration as needed
- Facility conducts its own onsite drug screening, including marijuana testing, with any positive result resulting in automatic cancellation
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
