Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Float Pool RN for a 13-week night shift contract requiring at least 2 years of experience and WV or compact RN licensure.
Details
- Acute care Med/Surg unit (6N Overflow) with 30 beds
- Patient-to-nurse ratios of 1:6, up to 1:7
- 12-hour night shifts, 36 hours per week
- Weekends scheduled as needed, typically half of all weekends
- Floating required based on census, with external travelers floated first
- One charge RN assigned to the floor along with PCTs for support
- Telemetry monitored remotely by monitor techs
- RNs required to titrate heparin drips based on aPTT results
- Intermittent BIPAP used; no ventilator management required
- Common diagnoses include CHF, COPD, cellulitis, pneumonia, urosepsis, AKI, and post-surgical cases (chole, appy)
- Uses EPIC EMR
- No standby or on-call requirement
- Scheduling transitioning to Qgenda system
Requirements
- Active WV or compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications required
- BSN not required
- Valid driver's license copy required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care on a busy Med/Surg overflow unit with a diverse case mix
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify for travel pay (no local candidates)
- Travelers who previously worked at any WVU Medicine facility must have taken a 2-year break before reapplying
- Travelers may not work within the WVU system for longer than one cumulative year without a 2-year break
- All candidates interview directly with the unit manager
- First-time travelers may be considered for this role
