Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN for a 13-week assignment requiring prior OR circulating experience and at least one prior travel assignment.
Details
- Work in a 4-room Operating Room department performing an average of 25 cases per day
- Case mix includes general surgery (open and laparoscopic), urology, ENT, OB/GYN, orthopedics, and endoscopy procedures for adults and minimal pediatric cases
- Primarily circulating role; scrub experience preferred but not required
- Uses Cerner EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing system
- Operating hours Monday through Friday, 7:00AM-5:30PM with 10-hour shifts on a rotating schedule
- May float to inpatient areas in a task/helping-hands capacity without assuming a patient assignment
- Call required for both RN and CST roles, averaging 6-7 shifts per month with a 20-minute response time
- Weekday call runs until 7:00AM the next morning; weekend call rotates every 4th or 5th weekend from Friday evening until Monday morning
- One week of orientation with a call buddy, working five 8-hour shifts
Requirements
- Active RN license (Compact or Maine) required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 3 years of OR RN experience required, 5 years preferred
- Minimum 1 year of experience in the OR specialty required
- Experience with the listed OR case types required
- Cerner or Epic EMR experience required
- At least one prior travel assignment required
Additional Information
- Circulate and assist with OR cases across general surgery, urology, ENT, OB/GYN, and orthopedic specialties
- Support staff on the unit includes a supervisor, charge RN, CRNAs, anesthesiologist coverage Monday-Thursday, resource nurses, OR educator, anesthesia tech, 24/7 respiratory therapy, and hospitalist coverage
- All staff participate in room turnover duties
- On-call coverage required for some holidays depending on contract overlap
- Surgical scrubs are provided and free parking is available
- Candidates with only medical exemptions for flu vaccination will be considered, subject to facility review
- Time off requests require manager approval
- First-time travelers will not be considered; at least one prior travel assignment is required
