Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Telemetry/Oncology PCU position requiring ACLS, BLS, and strong cardiac monitoring skills.
Details
- Work in the 2EW Tele/Onc unit of a 226-bed non-profit community hospital with 34 beds on the unit
- Care for a general medical patient population including DMII, GI, GU, COVID, PNA, AMS, TIA, AKI, sepsis, stroke, dialysis, and pulmonary edema cases
- High volume of cardiac patients including PCI pre/post care, CHF, MI, afib with RVR, NSTEMI, and chest pain
- High volume of post-cath lab procedures including TR bands, stent placements, and fresh cath patients requiring q15 min checks (no sheaths, no art lines)
- May care for oncology patients with diagnoses such as leukemia and neutropenia, though chemo administration is not required unless specified
- High Spanish-speaking (30%) and underserved patient population requiring compassionate care
- Uses Epic EMR
- 12-hour night shifts (7p-7a), 36 hours per week
- Weekend rotation required at least 2 times per month, with weekend nights defined as Friday and Saturday
- Floating required within scope throughout the hospital
- No on-call requirements
Requirements
- Active WA or compact RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 1 year of PCU experience required
- Skilled in trach care, chest tube management, TR band care, post-cath lab care, and central line maintenance
- Must be comfortable reading, interpreting, and measuring cardiac rhythms
- Experience caring for patients on BiPAP and high-flow O2 required
- Comfortable managing titratable drips including diltiazem, amiodarone, heparin, digoxin, Bumex, and Lasix
- Must be comfortable with cardiac patient populations
- Familiarity with stent placement procedures required

- Provide general nursing care across a diverse patient population including cardiac, oncology, and general medical diagnoses
- Deliver compassionate care to a high Spanish-speaking and underserved patient population
- Any scrub color permitted
- First-time travelers considered with at least 2 years of total nursing experience, including 1 year in PCU
