Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level IV Emergency Department position requiring TNCC and NIHSS certifications plus 2 years of ED experience.

Details

• Acute care setting in a Level IV Trauma, STEMI receiving, and Stroke Center emergency department
• 15 beds with 2 trauma bays, treating 45+ patients per day
• Nurse to patient ratio of 1:4
• Separate triage area staffed by travelers and separate psych/seclusion rooms available
• No fast track or dedicated ER holding area; holds are intermixed within the ER
• In-house 24/7 security located within the ER
• Common diagnoses include abdominal pain, chest pain, fever, cough, dyspnea, headache, injury, and extremity pain
• Common drips include cardiac, antihypertensive, antiarrhythmic, and sedation/analgesia medications
• RT equipment used includes vents, CPAP, BiPap, and high flow devices
• No monitor techs in the ER; no onsite X-ray or CT, and both phlebotomy and RNs perform lab draws
• Uses EPIC EMR
• Night shift schedule, 12-hour shifts, self-scheduling and block scheduling available
• Weekend requirement of 6 shifts per 6-week schedule
• Holiday coverage required
• Call/standby requirements determined by nurse manager
• Floating within Zone 1 possible during extreme need, as determined by nurse manager

Requirements

• Active CO or Compact RN license required, pending licenses not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of ED experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, NIHSS, and TNCC (all current, pending not accepted)
• ENPC certification also required for this unit
• Experience with NIHSS and TNCC skills required
• BSN not required for this position
• Driver's license copy required for consideration

Additional Information

• Charge nurse role is present and does take a patient assignment
• Nurse aides, EMTs, paramedics, and patient sitters support the unit on a shift-dependent basis
• Unit and department-specific orientation date and location assigned during orientation week
• Candidates should plan to be in-state for orientation week even if initial training modules are remote
• Navy blue scrub color required
• Must reside at least 60 miles from the facility to be considered
• Candidates may not have been directly employed by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and Dignity, within the past year; PRN employment through outside firms is acceptable
