Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position requiring a CO or compact license and NIHSS skills in a fast-paced acute care setting.

Details

• Acute care Med/Surg unit with 24 beds and a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Patient population includes CHF, hypertension, chest pain work-ups, COPD exacerbations, asthma, pneumonia, pancreatitis, bowel obstructions, GI bleeding, and acute renal failure
• RNs are required to titrate drips including analgesics, anticoagulants, and antihypertensives
• RT equipment on unit includes CPAP, BiPap, High Flow, and vents
• Nurse aides present on unit with a 1:5 ratio
• Charge nurse available and may take an assignment
• Uses Epic EMR
• 12-hour day shifts
• Self-scheduling and block scheduling available
• Minimum of six weekend shifts required per six-week schedule
• Holiday coverage required
• Call or standby requirements determined by nurse manager
• Floating required, with priority as first to float and possible floating within Zone 1 for extreme need

Requirements

• Active CO or Compact RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA) required
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• NIHSS experience required
• Driver's license copy required for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a busy Med/Surg unit including drip titration and monitoring of respiratory equipment
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Orientation includes 12 hours with unit-specific orientation date and location assigned during orientation week
• Clinicians must be in-state for orientation week even if initial training modules are completed remotely
• Hiring process includes a clinical interview with the facility's clinical team, who may extend an offer on the facility's behalf
• Must reside at least 60 miles from the facility to be considered
• Candidates may not have been directly employed by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI or Dignity, within the past year
• Candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
