Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Neuro ICU position requiring 2 years of experience and BLS/ACLS certification.
Details
- 16-bed Neuro ICU with a 1:2 patient ratio
- Patient population includes stroke, ICH, SAH, SDH, subdural hematoma, brain tumors, cerebral edema/increased ICP, hydrocephalus, acute respiratory failure, sepsis/septic shock, ARDS, COPD/asthma exacerbation, acute heart failure, AKI, DKA, HHS, GI bleeding, acute liver failure, and severe electrolyte abnormalities
- Titrates drips including Levophed, Epinephrine, Vasopressin, Neo-Synephrine, and Dopamine
- Uses mechanical ventilators, high-flow nasal cannula, and noninvasive ventilation (BiPAP/CPAP)
- Phillips telemetry monitors used with no dedicated tele/monitor techs; RNs read their own strips
- Two clinical techs support the 16-bed unit
- Night shift schedule from 7PM-7AM
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required to MSICU, PCCU, and boarders on the unit
- Uses Epic EMR
Requirements
- Active VA or compact RN license
- Current BLS and ACLS certification
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience required
- Cardiac experience not required
- Must pass ECG exam on day 2 of assignment (pass/fail)
Additional Information
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Holiday coverage required for 1 major and 1 minor holiday per year (Major: Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, New Year's Eve/New Year's Day, Thanksgiving Day/day after; Minor: Labor Day, 4th of July, Memorial Day)
- Former permanent employees may return 12 months after their last shift worked
