Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced ER RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring CA RN licensure, ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.
Details
- Acute care Emergency Room with 33 total patient care rooms, 25 of which have cardiac monitors
- Triage area includes 2 bays staffed by midlevels, RNs, or LVNs
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 with an average of 210 patients seen
- 12-hour night shifts, 7p-7a, with 2 weekends required per 4-week period
- Holiday coverage based on unit requirements
- Charge nurse coverage 24/7
- ER Techs with EMT, MA, or CNA experience assist with tech duties and EKGs
- GE telemetry equipment with central monitor stations at both nurses' stations
- RT and pharmacy (with Omnicell) coverage available 24/7
- No floating outside of the ER required
- Floor-specific orientation includes up to 6 shifts with a preceptor
- Cerner EMR used for charting
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of experience required
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
- Cerner EMR experience preferred, recent experience is a plus
- Strong, thorough documentation skills required
- Driver's license copy required for consideration
Additional Information
- Hospital serves as the base hospital for EMS and is Stroke Certified
- Facility follows EMTALA requirements to stabilize and treat all ED patients regardless of insurance or ability to pay
- ER nurses may care for boarded and ER hold patients
- Typical patient population includes routine ER cases as well as STEMI, hemorrhagic stroke, and pediatric patients requiring transfer
- Up to 5 physicians and 3 midlevel providers may be in house at a time
- Navy blue scrubs required; scrub jackets and undershirts must also be navy, white, or black
- Self-scheduling unit with scheduler authority to rebalance shifts as needed
- Travel teams are allowed, though consistent scheduling cannot be guaranteed
