Description
American Traveler is hiring a Case Manager RN for an acute care hospital setting, requiring an active AK RN license and 2 years of acute care experience.
Details
- Acute hospital Case Management/Utilization Review unit
- Magnet facility with Level II Trauma designation, recognized as a USNWR Best Hospital in Alaska
- Day shift schedule, 4x10 hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM
- Weekend work required, either every other weekend or 4 weekend days within a 4-week schedule
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities as needed
- Uses Epic EMR system
Requirements
- Active AK RN license required in hand
- BLS certification required, ACM-RN certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of acute care hospital experience required
- Epic charting experience required
- Case management responsibilities include care coordination, continued stay reviews, medical necessity determination, DME ordering, pre-certification and prior authorization reviews
- Knowledge of InterQual Criteria and Milliman Guidelines preferred
- Familiarity with CMS, HIPAA, ICD-10 coding, and Joint Commission standards preferred
- Worker's compensation case management experience preferred
- Experience in specialties such as Emergency Department, NICU, Pediatrics, PICU, and Women's Services preferred
- 2 supervisory references required, covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
- Copy of certifications required for consideration

- Scrubs provided by facility
- Parking is free
- Holiday coverage required for 2 of the following 3: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
- Only one time off request of 5 days or less permitted per 13-week assignment, with no holiday time off
- Hospital only accepts Hep B vaccination; titers or declinations not accepted
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates not accepted; permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility
- Former permanent staff must be separated from the health system for a minimum of 3 months before returning as a traveler, and must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
- Travelers may work a maximum of 1 calendar year in this assignment before requiring a 6-month break prior to returning to the same facility
