Description
American Traveler is hiring a Labor and Delivery RN for a night shift position requiring CA RN licensure and at least 1 year of L&D experience.
Details
- Labor and Delivery unit caring for a high-risk OB, culturally diverse patient population
- 11-15 beds with an average daily census of 15-20 patients and roughly 20 visits per day
- Night shift, 4x12 hours, 18:00-6:00
- Weekend shifts required to meet staffing needs
- Floating required to meet facility needs, with travelers given priority to float within their scope
- RNs circulate on cesarean sections
- Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required at time of submission (pending licenses not accepted)
- Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience required
- Required certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, BLS, NRP
- Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, administration of blood and blood products, drawing venous blood, starting and maintaining IVs, and use of infusion pumps/drips
- Labor and delivery management skills including amnioinfusion, assisting with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, circulating for C-sections, and recovering C-section patients
- Experience with medications such as anticoagulation therapy, antihypertensives, antiseizure medications, magnesium sulfate therapy, pitocin, and terbutaline
- Neonatal care skills including APGAR scoring, ID/security banding, and radiant warmer/thermoregulation use
- Antepartum care skills including NST, reflex checks, sterile vaginal exams, and obstetrical triage with EFM use
- Newborn care skills including cord care, discharge teaching, infant identification, newborn assessment, and thermoregulation
- Postpartum care skills including breastfeeding/lactation support, foley catheter management, and fundus/lochia/perineum care
- Pain management experience including epidural anesthesia, pain assessment, and IV PCA use
- Fetal monitoring skills including recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns and use of external and internal fetal monitoring
- Knowledge of isolation precautions/PPE and vaccine administration
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive labor and delivery nursing care including antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum support
- Assist with high-risk deliveries and surgical cases such as C-sections
- Support newborn care immediately following delivery
- May be required to float between sister facilities near the contracted site
- Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- RTO requests limited to no more than 7 days and must be submitted upfront
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify for travel rate
- Former permanent staff may return as travelers after a 3-month waiting period, provided they live more than 50 miles from the facility
- Two supervisory references required, covering 1 year of experience within the last 3 years
- Facility does not accept candidates with Nursys or background check hits
