Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 9th Floor Trauma/Ortho/Surgical unit, requiring a PA or compact RN license and 2+ years of experience.

Details

• Hospital-based Med/Surg unit specializing in Trauma, Orthopedics, Surgical, Urology, and Colorectal care
• Unit spans one floor with 44 beds across two nursing stations
• Adult patient population with post-operative and trauma diagnoses
• Patient ratio of 6:1, up to 7:1
• Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Weekend requirement of 4 shifts in a 4-week schedule, expecting at least 2 of 4 weekends worked
• No on-call requirements
• Float requirement to units with comparable patient population
• Uses EPIC EHR system

Requirements

• Active RN license (PA or Compact) required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• EPIC EHR experience required
• Ability to manage a 7:1 patient ratio required
• Trauma and surgical unit experience required
• Must pass a dysrhythmia and medication dosage calculation test prior to starting on the unit
• Must provide Social Security number and date of birth for consideration
• Must complete PA-specific background clearances, including Child Abuse History Clearance, Department of Human Services Fingerprinting, FBI/Department of Aging Fingerprinting, and PATCH State Police Clearance

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care within a Level 1 Trauma Center setting
• Work within a supportive float team structure; agency staff floating off-unit is uncommon but may occur if needed
• Professional appearance required; no designated scrub color, but facial piercings limited to a single one-sided nose stud (no facial hoops permitted)
• Candidates must demonstrate a flexible, friendly, and hardworking personality fit
• Weekly orientation held on Mondays
• Must reside 60 miles or more from the facility to be eligible for travel rate; otherwise considered local rate
• Candidates who have worked as permanent staff at any LifePoint facility within the past 12 months are not eligible
• Candidates must not be employed elsewhere full-time
• First-time travelers may be considered
