Description
American Traveler is hiring a Trauma Stepdown RN for a Level I trauma center's Progressive Care unit, requiring 2+ years of neuro med-surg experience and NIH Stroke Scale competency.
Details
- Work on a 22-bed Trauma Stepdown/Neuro Med Surg unit (8 Rose) within a Level I trauma center
- Adult patient population with common diagnoses including CVA, TIA, seizure, and inability to ambulate
- Patient ratios of 1:6, up to 1:7 depending on ED holds
- Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
- Weekend commitment of 2 of 4 weekends per schedule, or 4 of 8 weekend shift days (straight weekends available upon request)
- No on-call requirements
- Rare floating required
- Uses Mindray vital sign machines, GE EKG, and cardiac monitors
- EPIC EHR system in use
Requirements
- Active RN license (PA or compact) required
- AHA certifications required, including BLS
- NIH Stroke Scale certification required
- Swallow Screen certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Trach and vent experience required
- Neuro nursing experience required
- Competency in dysrhythmia required; a dysrhythmia and math dosage test is administered on day one of orientation
- PA fingerprinting and background clearances required prior to start, including Child Abuse History Clearance, Department of Human Services Fingerprinting, FBI Department of Aging Fingerprinting, and PATCH PA State Police Clearance
- Social Security number and date of birth required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide nursing care for trauma stepdown and neuro med-surg patients with conditions such as stroke, TIA, seizure, and respiratory or urinary issues
- Weekly orientation held on Mondays
- Must be available for holiday coverage as determined during phone screening
- Scrubs of any color accepted; hoodies, t-shirts with wording/pictures, and facial piercings not permitted
- Candidates must reside 60 miles or greater from the facility to be considered for the travel rate
- Candidates who have worked perm staff at any LifePoint facility within the last 12 months are not eligible
- Candidates cannot be employed elsewhere full time
