Description
American Traveler is seeking an RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry unit requiring 2 years of recent experience and NC or compact RN licensure in a Level II trauma center.
Details
- 34-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit (A4W Trauma Tele)
- Day shift staffing includes 1 charge RN, 6-7 RNs, 3 CNAs, and 1 HUC; night shift includes 1 charge RN, 5-7 RNs, 2 CNAs, and 1 HUC
- Patient ratios of 1:4-6 on day shift and 1:5-7 on night shift
- Uses Cerner EMR
- 12-hour shifts from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM
- Floating required to other med/surg units and occasionally to the ED holding pod
- Required to work every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per pay period
Requirements
- Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience required
- Telemetry rhythm interpretation skills required
- Strong critical thinking and time management skills required
- Ability to assess med/surg level patients and escalate changes in acuity appropriately
- US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration (no Canadian SSN accepted)
- No employment gaps of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Monitor and manage telemetry patients, including IV fluids, tube feeds, peg feedings, and IV antibiotics
- Attend shift huddles at 0650 for day shift or 1850 for night shift
- Clock in no earlier than 0638 or 1838 depending on shift, with clocking required for meal breaks
- Navy blue scrub attire required
- Strong team player mentality expected, including willingness to assist CNAs and other nurses
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates will not be considered
