Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department role requiring an active NY RN license and Epic experience.

Details

• 13-week assignment in a busy Emergency Department treating adult and geriatric patients with all emergency diagnoses
• 1:5 patient ratio
• Alternating shifts of nights (7p-7a) and days (11a-11p), 3x12-hour shifts
• Every other weekend required
• Every other holiday coverage required, if needed
• Floating required within skillset
• Uses Epic for charting
• Special equipment includes Bair Hugger, rapid infuser, and safe patient handling equipment
• Scrubs must be navy blue and/or white

Requirements

• Active New York Single State RN license required in hand (NY is not a compact state)
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required; PALS and TNCC preferred
• Minimum 2 years of ER nursing experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Experience with IV therapy including blood product administration, central line care, phlebotomy, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Experience with IV vasopressors and procedural sedation
• Experience with CPAP/BiPAP and ventilator management
• Experience with CVA, neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, and TBI care
• Cardiac monitoring experience including dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Experience with emergency care for adult and pediatric patients, including gunshot wounds and ortho trauma
• Experience with isolation precautions and triage

• Work in a state-of-the-art, 24/7 Emergency Department with a centralized layout, advanced diagnostic technology, a dedicated pediatric ED, a crisis intervention unit, and a dedicated trauma suite near the ambulance entrance
• Facility is a 528-bed Magnet-recognized academic teaching hospital certified as an Advanced Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center
• Facility is affiliated with Cleveland Clinic and Roswell Park
• Facility may cancel up to three shifts during the 13-week contract without penalty
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility are not accepted for RN positions
• Previous staff may be considered for rehire after a 6-month break, system wide
