Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a Float position requiring Level 1/2 trauma experience and vasopressor titration skills across a large acute care facility.
Details
- ICU Resource Team role within an acute care hospital setting
- Manages 1-3 critically ill patients across varying populations including neuro, cardiac, CT surgery, trauma, medical, and surgical cases
- Assists with bedside procedures including RSI, EVD placement, tracheostomy, and line placement
- Manages titratable drips such as vasopressors, sedatives, analgesics, inotropics, and antiarrhythmics
- Utilizes EPIC EMR, Omnicell Automated Dispensing Cabinet, Alaris IV pumps, MOOG feeding pumps, IABP, EVD, Phillips patient monitoring, AvaSure monitoring, and Impella
- Unit has 32 beds with nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2
- 12-hour night shifts with occasional day/night rotation and 4-hour shifts
- Every other weekend and every other holiday required
- No call required and clinicians will not work alone
- Floats to all critical care departments including 5AB, Intermediate ICU (up to 4:1 ratio), and Broadway ICU (up to 3:1 ratio)
- May float to med surg units as needed
- Clinicians call in daily prior to shift to learn their unit assignment for that day
Requirements
- Active RN license (ND or compact state) required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA) and NIHSS certification required
- Minimum 2 years ICU RN experience required
- Experience in a large hospital (250+ beds) with Level 1 or 2 trauma designation required
- Documented experience titrating vasopressor drips required, must be reflected on resume or skills checklist
- EPIC EMR charting experience required
- Ability to independently care for critically ill patients
Additional Information
- 32 hours of orientation provided during the first week of assignment, including hospital, unit, Intermediate ICU, and Broadway ICU orientation
- All clinicians must badge in and out at the facility
- Scrub color required: navy blue
- Candidates must disclose any previous employment with Sanford Health for review
- Previous Sanford Health employees must have an end date at least 6 months prior to submission
- Cannot accept candidates living within 60 miles of the facility
- Local travel rate applies to candidates living 60 to 80 miles from the facility
