Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Telemetry/Med-Surg/Pediatric unit requiring at least one year of recent acute care experience and familiarity with the Expanse EMR.

Details

• Work on a 23-bed 4th floor Tele/Med-Surg/Pediatric unit
• Day shift schedule of 7a-7p for 13 weeks
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6, tech ratio of 1:10-15
• Unit staffed with charge nurse, nurses, techs, and unit secretary per shift
• Uses IV pumps, SEQ pumps, vein finder, bladder scanner, EKG, integrated vital signs monitors, and computers on wheels
• Expanse EMR used for charting, admissions, and discharges
• Floating required to any unit within skill set as needed
• 4 weekend shifts required per 4-week schedule

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of recent acute care experience in Med-Surg/Tele or stepdown unit required
• Familiarity with Expanse EMR and admissions/discharge processes required
• Telemetry experience required
• Previous Expanse experience preferred
• Ability to draw labs preferred
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Perform lab draws, IV insertions, foley insertions, and administer IV fluids and medications such as antibiotics
• Prepare patients for surgical and non-surgical procedures
• Communicate effectively with physicians and care team
• Attend daily huddles at 0645/1845 and complete bedside shift report and required daily charting
• Royal blue scrub attire required
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; no local candidates accepted
