Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN for a rural critical access hospital, requiring VT or compact RN license and 3+ years of ED experience.

Details

• Work in a 24/7, board-certified physician-staffed rural Emergency Department with over 15,000 annual patient visits
• Department renovated in 2026
• Flex shift schedule consisting of three 12-hour shifts per week
• Care for a broad range of acute illnesses, injuries, and emergency conditions
• Meditech EMR used, with prior experience strongly preferred

Requirements

• Active VT RN license or Compact Multi-State RN license required
• Current BLS, PALS, and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum of 3 years Emergency Department RN experience required
• TNCC and ENPC certifications preferred
• Experience with a wide range of patient populations and emergency conditions required
• Ability to quickly learn new EMR systems
• Must demonstrate sound clinical judgment and ability to work independently in a rural ED setting
• Flu vaccination required with no exceptions

• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, EMS, and inpatient teams for coordinated care
• Manage multiple patient needs simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in accordance with hospital policies and evidence-based practices
• Located in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom, known for outdoor recreation and a four-season lifestyle
• Public transportation and rideshare services are not available in the area, and reliable personal transportation is required
• Closest commercial airport is approximately two hours away
• Local housing resources available, but travelers are responsible for securing their own accommodations
• All credentialing documentation must be submitted at least five business days before start date to avoid delays
• Travelers begin orientation on Wednesdays, with 36 guaranteed hours during the first week due to midweek start
