Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Oncology RN for a night shift position requiring 2 years of MS/ONC experience and a CO or compact RN license.

Details

• Medical Surgical Oncology unit with 30 staffed beds
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:00 AM), rotating preferred but straight nights accepted
• Patient ratios 1:5-1:6, depending on chemo admissions and experience, with no guarantee of chemo administration assignments
• Uses Epic for charting
• Every third weekend required, subject to change based on unit needs
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required as needed, including to sister facilities in the North region
• Navy blue scrubs required

Requirements

• Active CO or compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification required
• ONS/ONCC chemotherapy certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Oncology experience required
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, infusions, and port access/management
• Experience managing central lines, PICC lines, and blood/blood product administration preferred
• Chemotherapy administration experience preferred (IV push, continuous infusion, oral)
• Experience recognizing and managing oncologic emergencies (ATLS, anaphylaxis, extravasation, hemorrhage, sepsis) preferred
• Experience with symptom management and psychosocial care including hospice and advance directives preferred
• Knowledge of chest tube care, ostomy management, wound care, and isolation precautions preferred
• Experience caring for patients with various cancer diagnoses (breast, lung, colorectal, leukemia, lymphoma, and others) preferred

Additional Information

• Provide inpatient oncology nursing care including chemotherapy administration, symptom management, and patient/family education
• Responsible for managing oncologic emergencies and recognizing abnormal lab values
• Completion of all facility-specific modules required within the first week of assignment
• Local candidates within 75 miles of the facility may be eligible for a local rate
• Maximum of 10 RTO days approved per 13-week contract, with blackout periods during select weeks
• No blocked scheduling requests permitted
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Previous UCHealth employees are subject to eligibility review and may be restricted from consideration
• Returning travelers who completed a full year on assignment may not be rebooked for at least one year
