Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring 2+ years of ER experience and a GA or Compact RN license.

Details

• General Emergency Department treating combined adult/pediatric patients
• Common diagnoses include HTN, diabetes, CHF, ESRD, CAD, abdominal pain, STEMI/NSTEMI, pulmonary embolism, COPD, and behavioral health cases
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (6:00 PM-6:00 AM)
• Works every other weekend
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active GA or Compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of ER experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS
• EBRR and GSCC certifications required (can be completed onsite)
• Experience with care of ventilated patients preferred
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, and central line care/management experience required
• Experience starting and maintaining IVs required
• Experience administering emergency medications and continuous IV sedation required
• Procedural sedation administration/monitoring experience required
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and management required
• Triage experience required
• Experience with isolation precautions/PPE required
• Experience managing violent or psychiatric patient behavior required
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, LTAC, and Level I/II Trauma Center experience preferred
• Experience in STEMI-certified facilities preferred
• Experience managing multisystem organ dysfunction/failure preferred
• First-time travelers accepted

Additional Information

• Provide emergency nursing care across a wide range of acute and chronic conditions
• Manage high-acuity patients including those with cardiac, respiratory, and psychiatric emergencies
• Holiday coverage required based on number of major holidays falling within the assignment period
• Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, and New Year's Eve/Day
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, which must be finalized at time of consideration
• No RTO permitted during orientation week
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
• Previous Piedmont employees must be separated from all Piedmont facilities for one full year before returning as a traveler
• Travelers who cancel or are released from a Piedmont assignment must complete one assignment at a different facility before reapplying to Piedmont
• Shift and contract length are firm with no alternate schedule requests permitted
• Travel pairs cannot be assigned to the same shift on the same unit
