Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro Med/Surg unit position requiring at least 1 year of recent specialty experience and a TN or compact RN license.
Details
- 20-bed Neuro Med/Surg unit with a 6:1 patient ratio
- Tech support available on day and night shifts, with unit secretary coverage 7a-7p
- Uses IV pumps, telemetry, SCDs, continuous pulse ox machines, feeding pumps, PCA, EKG machines, bladder scanners, and iMobile communication technology
- Charting completed in Meditech
- 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- Schedule includes 3 shifts per week with 2 weekends (4 shifts) per 4-week schedule
- Contract labor floats first, based on rotation when multiple contract staff are scheduled
Requirements
- Active TN or compact RN license required
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of experience required
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Med/Surg specialty required
- Med/Surg experience with ability to prioritize care and multitask
- Skilled in starting IVs, basic wound care, and maintenance of surgical drains, nasogastric tubes, and chest tubes
- US SSN and DOB required for consideration (Canadian SSN not accepted)
- One professional reference required (two required for FL and MO)
- No employment gaps of 90+ days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Provide attentive, compassionate bedside care including shift report and family involvement in care planning
- Facility holds Comprehensive Stroke, ACS Verified Level II Trauma Center, and Certified Chest Pain Center designations
- Navy scrub top and bottom required as uniform
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates will not be considered
