Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg position requiring 2+ years of experience and Meditech familiarity.
Details
- 294-bed Joint Commission accredited hospital offering cancer care, cardiac care, orthopedics, imaging, and surgical services
- Medical Surgical units located on the 3rd and 5th floors, each with 22 beds
- Adult and geriatric patient population with common diagnoses including surgical, PD exchanges, placements, and psych cases
- Patient ratios range from 6:1 to 7:1
- Uses telemetry equipment and MEDITECH EHR system
- 12-hour day shift schedule from 7 AM to 7 PM
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required as a 2nd nurse to Telemetry and ED units
Requirements
- Active RN license (NC or Compact) currently in hand
- BLS and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Associate's degree in Nursing required
- Meditech experience preferred
- Med Surg experience preferred
Additional Information
- Provide nursing care across Medical Surgical units with flexible scheduling to meet facility needs
- Candidates must reside 60 miles or greater from the facility to be considered for the travel rate
- Candidates cannot have worked as permanent staff at any LifePoint facility within the last 12 months
- Candidates cannot be employed elsewhere full time
- Scrubs of any color are acceptable
- Orientation is held bi-weekly
- Facility located in Wilson, NC, about 45 miles east of Raleigh and within an hour of major universities including Duke, NC State, UNC Chapel Hill, and East Carolina University

Doctors and most of staff are nice. Surgeries are not hard.
Cons
No staff so a lot of call. You will be on call within your first week or two, even if you don't know how to do anything. Unorganized. The director and supervisor don't know anything about the OR nor are they helpful. New staff are not properly trained. Everything falls on the OR nurse to do. They preop in house patients getting surgery. A couple of OR staff are bullies and lazy, they all think they are the boss. They tell the charge nurse what they are going to do and not going to do. Its like high school all over. Had to leave out of fear for my license.
