Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position on nights, requiring telemetry experience and a Nebraska or Compact RN license.

Details

• Work in a 55-bed Progressive Care/Stepdown Unit within a Level 1 trauma acute care hospital
• Primarily adult patients, with rare peds patients 15 and older
• RN to patient ratio of 1:4 on both days and nights
• 12-hour night shifts (1830-0630) with every other weekend required
• Uses EPIC EMR and Alaris IV pumps
• Common diagnoses include CVA, TIA, shortness of breath, COVID, subdural hematoma, and weakness
• Common medications include PCA pumps, cardizem, and insulin drips
• Floating required, ideally to Med-Surg areas based on highest need
• Nursing assistant and charge nurse support available, along with educators, care managers, social workers, dietitians, PT, and OT
• Mechanical lifts available in every other room

Requirements

• Active RN license (Nebraska or Compact/NLC) required, pending licenses not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• Telemetry competency required
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Must not have artificial nails due to patient care policy
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct nursing care for PCU patients with cardiac and neurological conditions requiring telemetry monitoring
• Participate in hourly rounding to support patient experience and responsiveness
• Join a tight-knit team known for strong mutual support among staff
• Navy blue scrubs required for RNs
• Must pass a pass/fail open-book skills exam with a minimum score of 90% during orientation to continue the assignment
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, verified by driver's license
• Candidates may not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year
• PRN employment through outside staffing firms will be considered
