Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN Inpatient Care Coordinator requiring an active Alaska RN license and 8 years of nursing experience, including case management or utilization review background.

• 13-week inpatient hospital assignment
• Care management/case coordination role within a hospital setting
• Guaranteed 40 hours per week
• Shift details to be discussed at interview

Requirements

• Active Alaska RN license required at time of consideration
• BLS certification required
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• 8 years of clinical care or nursing experience required, including 3 years in chart review, risk management, or related quality service
• Case Management certification (e.g., NCQA, CCMC) preferred
• Knowledge of medical record review for medical necessity, level of care, and insurance reimbursement
• Familiarity with basic ICD-9 and CPT coding and CMS regulations
• Proficient in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and disease concepts
• Strong written, oral, and organizational skills
• Flu vaccine required

Additional Information

• Manage patient progression of care and promote evidence-based protocols to ensure appropriate, timely, and cost-effective care delivery
• Review patient records to evaluate progress, hospitalization necessity, length of stay, and quality of care
• Collaborate with physicians, hospital leadership, and clinical teams to ensure adherence to utilization and discharge care plans
• Facilitate education for physicians and departments on regulations affecting utilization and case management
• Maintain utilization review and appeal logs, and process appeals of denials
• Support tumor registry functions and clinical quality improvement initiatives
• Start date will be at least 4 weeks after fingerprint cards are processed, so prompt completion of fingerprinting is encouraged to avoid delays
