Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring 2 years of ER experience and MO or compact licensure.

Details

• Acute care hospital Emergency Department treating combined adult/pediatric patients
• STEMI and Stroke Certified facility handling shock/trauma and gunshot wound cases
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours (5:45-18:15), 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend required (Saturday and Sunday for day shift)
• Every other holiday required
• No on-call responsibilities
• No floating required outside the service line
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active RN license (MO state or compact, compact must match permanent residence)
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and PALS required; CPI and TNCC preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent ER nursing experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Epic EMR charting experience required
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and 12-lead EKG/ECG interpretation
• Experience managing multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
• Skilled in triage and isolation precautions/PPE
• Able to manage/apply splints and other orthopedic care
• Experience with psychiatric emergencies including acute psychosis, overdose, and suicidal patients

Additional Information

• Provide emergency care to a combined adult and pediatric patient population
• Manage a wide range of emergency presentations including trauma, respiratory, neurological, and psychiatric conditions
• Perform procedural sedation administration and monitoring as needed
• Administer emergency medications and IV vasopressors
• Navy scrub color required
• Must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
• Standard travelers may stay up to 18 months, followed by a required 3-month break in service
• Former permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler
• Maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract, with no RTO permitted during the first week of orientation
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
