Description

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN with charge nurse capability and Epic experience for a night shift position at a critical access hospital requiring an active MN RN license.

Details

• Medical Surgical unit in a critical access, Level IV trauma hospital with 34 staffed beds
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (7pm-7am)
• Patient ratios of 1:3 days and 1:5 nights
• Every other weekend requirement
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital as needed
• Uses Epic (Excellian) for charting

Requirements

• Active MN RN license required; pending license accepted
• BLS required; ACLS and PALS preferred
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg experience required
• Community hospital experience required
• Charge nurse capability required; previous charge experience preferred
• MS/Tele and Tele experience preferred
• Experience with Rapid Response Teams preferred
• Experience with blood product administration, peripheral line care/management, and starting IVs required
• Heparin and insulin administration experience required
• Total joint replacement experience required
• Experience with nasal cannula, oral suctioning, oxygen face masks, and portable oxygen tanks required
• Isolation precautions/PPE experience required
• Epic/Excellian charting experience required
• Colostomy care and feeding tube management experience preferred
• Child and adolescent competencies required
• Minimum of 1 supervisor reference required for consideration

Additional Information

• Serve as charge nurse as needed on the unit
• Provide comprehensive medical surgical nursing care including wound care, IV therapy, and respiratory support
• Must live more than 100 miles from the facility to be considered, as local candidates are not accepted for this position
• Returning travelers or staff must have been gone at least 3 months from their last shift worked as perm staff or per diem
• RTO ideally no more than 5 days
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Navy blue scrubs required

• Fingerprinting required per Minnesota state regulations, which may require travel to a LiveScan location if not within driving distance
