Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg RN with a PA or compact RN license for a 13-week acute care assignment with day/night rotating shifts.

Details

• Acute care Med/Surg unit with 39 beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 4:1
• Patient population includes cardiac, neurology, and post-op med/surg cases
• Uses MEDITECH EMR
• Day/night rotating 12-hour shifts with every-other-weekend and every-other-holiday requirements
• RNs required to titrate drips, including heparin
• Floating limited to areas with medical patients
• No on-call requirement, though downsizing may occur
• Charge nurse present each shift and may carry a patient assignment at times

Requirements

• Active RN license (PA or Compact) required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• BSN not required
• Experience managing titratable drips such as heparin

Additional Information

• RT manages all respiratory equipment needs; no ventilators on the unit
• Tele monitoring handled via TelePacks with rhythm interpretation completed by ICU staff
• Any scrub color accepted
• Schedule requests and shift preferences accommodated based on departmental needs
• 2-3 days off typically given when transitioning from night to day shifts
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
• Candidates with prior experience at any WVU Medicine location must have a 2-year break before reapplying
• Travelers cannot work within the WVU system for longer than a cumulative year without taking a 2-year break
• All candidates interview directly with the unit manager
