Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring 2 years of L&D experience, AWHONN Intermediate certification, and a TN or compact RN license.

Details

• Labor and Delivery unit within a hospital setting
• Patient population includes term labor, antepartum surveillance, newborn care, gyn med/surg (post-op hysterectomy, mastectomy), and overflow female non-infectious medical patients
• Special procedures include triage assessments, inductions, cesareans, external versions, NSTs, circumcisions, newborn resuscitation/stabilization, and Mag Sulfate administration
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (18:45-7:15)
• Weekend coverage required every other weekend, subject to unit needs
• On-call responsibilities required
• Floating to other units required based on demonstrated skill set and competencies

Requirements

• Active RN license (TN or Compact)
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate
• AWHONN Advanced and AWHONN Beginner certifications preferred
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required
• Minimum 1 year of EPIC EMR experience required
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Skills in IV therapy, administration of blood products, cardiac monitoring, and emergency care
• Experience with high-risk and vaginal delivery, C-section circulation, and hemorrhage/shock management
• Experience with neonatal care including APGAR scoring, resuscitation, and thermoregulation
• Experience with antepartum care including NSTs, sterile vaginal exams, and obstetrical triage
• Experience caring for patients with conditions such as diabetes, pre-eclampsia, HELLP syndrome, and substance abuse

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor and delivery, and postpartum stages
• Support high-risk deliveries, C-section recovery, and newborn stabilization
• Administer medications including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, antihypertensives, and antiseizure drugs
• Perform newborn care tasks including circumcision assistance, cord care, and discharge teaching
• Provide lactation and breastfeeding support to postpartum patients
• Utilize fetal monitoring equipment including external and internal fetal monitors and IUPC placement
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
