Opportunity:
RN - ER/ED Float
Job Details:
• Day shift position with 12-hour shifts
• Every other weekend requirement
• Every other holiday requirement
• No on-call or standby requirement
• Must float within Zone 1 covering a 60-mile radius from Colorado Springs, CO city center
• Schedules released 4-6 weeks in advance following one of two formats: scheduled at a single facility for the week with possible float within that facility, or Just-In-Time (JIT) where facility is assigned 1-2 hours before shift start
• No home base facility - travelers are expected to float throughout the full 60-mile zone regardless of where housing is obtained
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5 based on acuity
• Treat 40-168 patients per day depending on location
• Common diagnoses include abdominal pain, diabetes, NSTEMI, pneumonia, trauma, stroke, and hypertension
• Administer standard ER medications and common drips
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry independently as no monitor techs are available
• Will be trained and perform Point of Care lab testing
• Respiratory therapy available 24/7
• Charge nurse takes an assignment
• Techs available to support unit secretary work, assist nurses, and assist in triage
• 2-3 days of unit/department specific orientation provided
• Must be present in state for week of orientation even if first day modules are remote
• Charting system: EPIC
• Scrub color/dress code: Navy Blue
• Minimum 2 years of ED experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), NIHSS, TNCC

This floating emergency department position spans multiple acute care facilities across a 60-mile zone, including trauma level 3 and 4 facilities, the majority of which are STEMI and stroke receiving centers. The facilities offer comprehensive emergency services with respiratory therapy available around the clock, supporting a wide range of critical and non-critical patient needs. Each location is equipped with modern technology including EPIC charting systems and provides a dynamic work environment with varying patient volumes and acuity levels.
