Opportunity:

Float Pool RN - MedSurg/Tele/Stepdown

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts
• Weekends scheduled as required
• Float between MedSurg units, Stepdown (IMCU), IRU (Rehab), and ED Holding
• MedSurg units include 1W (28 private beds) and 2E (29 private beds)
• Stepdown unit (3W) includes 28 private beds
• MedSurg patient ratios are 1:6-7; Stepdown ratios are 1:4-5 (1:6 if MedSurg acuity)
• MedSurg shifts run 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM and 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
• Stepdown shifts run 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM and 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
• Every other weekend required; MedSurg requires 2 Fridays per schedule
• Work into permanent staff holiday rotation
• Scrub color requirement: Navy Blue; jackets (if worn) must also be navy blue
• MedSurg patients may include post-surgical, orthopedic, pneumonia, dialysis, palliative care, hospice, end of life, and low-volume inpatient chemo cases
• Stepdown patients are heavy cardiac, including dysrhythmias, CVAs, and patients downgraded from ICU
• MedSurg tele patients monitored remotely by monitor tech; no monitors on MedSurg unit
• Stepdown requires ability to read and interpret cardiac strips as the central monitor station for the hospital
• Stepdown drips include Cardizem, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Heparin; must be comfortable titrating drips
• MedSurg drips limited to Heparin and possibly MSO4 for comfort measures; no cardiac drips
• Bipap, CPAP, and High Flow managed by Respiratory Therapy on both units
• No vents on either unit beyond Bipap, CPAP, and High Flow
• Hospitalist in-house 24/7; Intensivist in ICU 7 days/week 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM and on-call after hours
• Charting system: EPIC
• Cancellation policy: 2 shifts per 13-week contract
• BSN not required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
