Job Details:

• Monday through Friday schedule with weekend requirement every six weeks for approximately two hours
• Block scheduling type
• Care for adults and geriatric patient populations
• Staffing ratio of 1:1 with 7 patients per day
• Average daily census of 40 with 14 rooms available
• Epic charting system experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, Chemo (ONS/ONCC), ACLS, OCN
• Scrub color: navy blue
• Free parking available
• Minimum 2 years of experience required; unit does not accept first-time travelers
• Travel experience required
• Work in infusion center and outpatient oncology settings
• Care for oncology and non-oncology patients including chemotherapy and non-chemotherapy infusion patients
• Administer and monitor chemotherapy including continuous infusion, IV push, and body fluid handling post-chemotherapy
• Manage cytotoxic spills and recognize and communicate abnormal lab values
• Perform bone marrow transplant-related care including CAR-T, graft-versus-host disease, and stem cell therapies
• Provide IV therapy and infusion services including accessing and managing ports, central line blood draws, PICC line care, and infusion pump management
• Administer blood and blood products, coagulation factors, antifungals, antivirals, and intravenous hydration
• Manage oncologic emergencies including acute tumor lysis syndrome, anaphylaxis, extravasation injury, and sepsis
• Administer medications including antibiotics, antiemetics, antitumor agents, corticosteroids, hormonal therapy, and Neupogen
• Provide pain management including IV push narcotic agents and transdermal patches
• Perform professional skills including phlebotomy, Foley catheter insertion, tracheostomy care, wound care, colostomy/ileostomy management, and telephone triage
• Support psychosocial care including advanced directives and patient and family education
• Manage symptom care including nausea and vomiting, neuropathy, altered mental status, edema, and dysphagia
• Provide post-surgical care as needed
• Utilize special equipment including CADD infusion pumps and Pyxis medication system
• Interdisciplinary support available including pharmacy, rapid response team, respiratory services, social services, unit secretary, interpretation services, and charge nurses with techs

The unit supports a multidisciplinary team approach, providing patients with access to pharmacy, rapid response teams, respiratory services, social services, and interpretation services. The facility is equipped with advanced technology and resources to support complex oncology care including bone marrow transplant therapies and chemotherapy infusion treatments.
