Opportunity:
PCU/IMC Float
Job Details:
• Day shift position working 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• 6-9 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule
• May be asked to participate in holiday rotation
• Rare on-call or standby requirement for low census situations
• Float position covering Zone 1 within a 60-mile radius of Colorado Springs, CO including Penrose Hospital, St. Francis Medical Center, St. Francis InterQuest, St. Mary Corwin, and St. Thomas More
• Schedules released 4-6 weeks in advance; may be assigned to a single facility for the week or assigned to a facility 1-2 hours before shift start via Just-In-Time scheduling
• Float across multiple PCU/IMC units covering specialties including General, Cardiac, Neuro, Oncology, Rehab, Renal, Bariatrics, Ortho, Trauma, and ED Observation
• May be asked to float into other acuity levels including ICU (low acuity holds), PCU/Stepdown, and MS-Tele
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3-4 dependent on acuity
• Nurse aides available on unit
• Must be comfortable titrating and managing cardiac drips including dopamine, dobutamine, cardizem, amiodarone, ativan, insulin, and heparin
• Must have experience with cardiac drips, insulin, and ativan
• Common patient population includes adults and geriatrics with diagnoses including Cardiac, Neuro, Ortho, Oncology, Renal, Urology post-surgical, General Surgery, Gynecology, Psych/Detox, ENT, and General Medicine
• RT equipment including vents, CPAP, and BiPAP present on unit
• Charting system: EPIC; prior Epic experience preferred
• 1-2 days of orientation with a preceptor
• Traveler must not miss more than 3 shifts in a 13-week contract
• Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment
• All time off requests must be submitted prior to starting assignment
• Any color scrubs permitted
• Minimum 2 years of PCU/IMC experience required; prior neuro experience preferred
• BSN not required
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NIHSS
