Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg Tele Float Pool

Job Details:

• 12-hour shifts available as 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:30 PM
• Schedule is set 4 weeks in advance and may be adjusted up to two weeks in advance based on hospital needs
• 4 weekend shifts required per 4-week period; weekends include both Saturday and Sunday
• Holiday shifts required based on unit needs
• No on-call requirement; standby response time of 30 minutes if placed on standby due to low census
• Level I trauma center experience required
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg/Tele experience required; Level I trauma center and teaching hospital experience preferred
• Float pool position supporting multiple units including medical-surgical, telemetry, neuro, and observation units; travelers must be willing to float and cannot refuse unit assignments
• Units include Tower 5-8 (med/surg, oncology, lung transplant, cardiac surgery, trauma, and organ transplant), Neuro units 5N, 6N, and 7NNB (stroke, neuro, epilepsy, ENT, and migraines), and 6HLT/7HLT (cardiac procedures and observation)
• Float coverage may also include Neuro Rehab, Surgical Landing Zone, ED Holds, and Zone 4
• May also float to Westgate and Laveen med-surg telemetry units with 1:4-5 patient ratios
• Typical patient ratios range from 1:3 to 1:6 depending on unit
• Must pass a basic dysrhythmia exam with a score of 80% or higher within 2 attempts prior to contract start
• Must pass a Day 1 SIMs Lab assessment covering Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes; SIMs Lab is pass/fail and requires demonstrated competency in sterile field technique
• SIMs Lab also includes educational components on lifts, restraints, and wound care
• All reports completed at bedside; a quality 2-person skin assessment must be completed within the first 4 hours of each shift
• Orientation consists of 2 shifts (1 shift on unit, 1 shift in ED holds); a third shift provided only if needed
• Assignment received 30-60 minutes in advance via GroupMe texting service or phone call if GroupMe is not an option
• Must clock in with the correct department code when floating between units; expected to be on unit by 7:00 AM or 7:00 PM for shift huddle
• Charting system: Cerner
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA); NIHSS preferred but not required
• BSN not required
• Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment, or up to 3 shifts for assignments shorter than 13 weeks
