Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of recent PCU, MS/Tele, or acute care RN experience (neuro experience required)
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Indiana state, compact, or IN temp license
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (required for healthcare jobs)
• Proficiency with Cardizem, Amiodarone, Lasix, insulin drips, post-heart cath, and post-pacemaker care
• Ability to float within hospital or to affiliate Indiana healthcare facilities
• Graduate of ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• Two supervisor references required
• Travel nurses only (local Indiana residents not eligible)

PCU Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a progressive care unit
• Manage cardiac drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone), insulin drips, and BiPap
• Care for post-cardiac procedure patients (heart cath, pacemaker, ablation, watchman)
• Provide clinical support for oncology, stroke, cardiac, GI, and pulmonary patients
• Interpret dysrhythmias and manage neuro/stroke patients, including unstable strokes
• Administer blood products, manage central/peripheral lines, and perform IV starts
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (PT, RT, pharmacy, social services)
• Float to other units as needed; adapt to patient ratios (MS: 1:5-6, PCU: 1:3-4)
