CVICU Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Assignment in Aurora, CO (80045). 13-week contract; 2+ years CVICU/Cardiac ICU experience; ACLS & BLS required.
Join a dynamic Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) team in Aurora, Colorado for a 13-week travel nurse assignment. As a CVICU RN / critical care nurse, you will provide advanced care to critically ill adults recovering from open-heart surgery, heart and lung transplants, and complex vascular procedures. This travel nursing job offers professional growth, hands-on cardiac ICU experience (ECMO, VAD), and access to Denver-area amenities and the Rocky Mountains.
Job Details
- Location: Aurora, Colorado (80045) — Travel Nurse / Contract RN position
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: March 30, 2026
- End Date: June 29, 2026
- Shifts: 3x12-hour rotating shifts (Days: 07:00–19:30, Nights: 19:00–07:30)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Weekend Requirement: 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period
- Unit: 24-bed Cardiothoracic ICU / Cardiac ICU (Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit)
- Charting: Epic (Epic experience preferred)
- Scrub Color: Navy
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,040–$2,150/week
Qualifications / Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years recent CVICU / Cardiac ICU experience required (ECMO and VAD experience highly preferred)
- Active Colorado RN license or Compact RN license
- Certifications: AHA BLS and ACLS required; NIHSS preferred
- Experience with Epic electronic health record preferred
- Trauma Level II experience required
- Ability to float within scope to similar critical care units as needed
- Previous charge experience preferred

Responsibilities
- Deliver expert critical care nursing to cardiovascular patients, including post-op open-heart surgery, heart and lung transplant patients, and complex vascular cases
- Manage advanced circulatory and respiratory support: VAD/Ventricular Assist Devices, ECMO, invasive hemodynamic monitoring
- Administer, titrate, and monitor cardiac and vasoactive infusions safely
- Interpret cardiac rhythms, respond to arrhythmias, and manage hemodynamic changes
- Provide bedside care, assessments, and timely, accurate documentation in Epic
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (cardiothoracic surgeons, intensivists, perfusionists, transplant teams) to optimize patient outcomes
- Float to similar critical care units as needed to support hospital operations
- Participate in unit-based education, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice initiatives
