Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Night shift (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Specialty: Labor and Delivery (Level III or IV)

Required Experience

• Minimum 18 months of permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel
• Minimum 2 years of recent Labor and Delivery Level III or IV experience, including scrub and circulating experience (travel experience accepted)
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required

Required Licenses and Certifications

• Must have a permanent Ohio nursing license or compact state license in hand
• AHA BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required
• ECG rhythm recognition test and medication safety exam (SafeMedicate) must be passed during orientation

Work Requirements

• Must work at least every other holiday
• Orientation includes competency testing on ECG and medication administration

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Ohio
• Labor and Delivery experience of at least 1.5 years, including experience within the last year
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NRP certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Required Qualifications and Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID required (must carry while on assignment)
• Background checks including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing and updated annually)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including capability assessment for essential job functions
• Fit mask test (3M N95) within 12 months of start, updated annually
• Immunizations and health screenings required:

  • Tdap every 10 years
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or titer or declination
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccination (no declinations accepted)
• Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually
• Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year of start

Documentation and Onboarding

• Completion of online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
• Baseline competency exams on medication administration and ECG interpretation during orientation (90% and 80% passing scores respectively)
• References: 2 professional references from within 1 year of start (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director)
• Employment application with at least 3 years prior work history including 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar area
• Ohio BCI/FBI fingerprint attestation required annually

Additional Notes

• Candidates with gaps in employment over 30-40 days may need to update physical and eye exams
• Candidates must comply with all facility-specific onboarding and safety protocols
• Facility requires holiday work coverage every other holiday

This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs with strong clinical skills in Level III or IV units, who hold the appropriate Ohio or compact nursing license and certifications, and are comfortable working night shifts in a high-acuity setting.
