Description
Title: Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) – Acute Care / Pediatric Outpatient
Location: San Diego, CA
Duration: 20 weeks
Shift: Days, 5x8-hour shifts (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM); may consider 4x10s, Monday–Friday
Job Responsibilities
-
Provide speech-language pathology services to pediatric patients in an acute care and outpatient hospital setting
-
Evaluate, diagnose, and treat speech, language, voice, fluency, swallowing, and communication disorders
-
Work with pediatric patients including infants and young children (0–3 years old)
-
Support patients with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), developmental delays, language disorders, and neurodevelopmental conditions
-
Perform bedside swallow evaluations and dysphagia management
-
Utilize adaptive equipment and augmentative/alternative communication tools as appropriate
-
Educate patients and families on treatment plans and progress
-
Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams in a children's hospital environment
-
Ensure patient safety, including awareness of signs and symptoms of abuse

Document care using the Epic charting system
Required Skills & Qualifications
-
Minimum 3 years of experience as a Speech-Language Pathologist
-
Direct experience with children ages 0–3
-
Experience working with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Children's hospital experience required

Pediatric outpatient experience required
-
Active California state SLP license (in hand or ETA required at submission)

BLS certification
-
CCC-SLP certification
-
Proficiency with Epic charting system

Ability to work in a pediatric-focused acute care and outpatient setting
-
Willingness to float within hospital settings as needed
