Description

Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Department (Travel)
Location: Washington, DC
Shift: 3 x 12-hour Mid Shifts (36 hours/week)
Contract Duration: 13 Weeks


Position Summary: The Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive, patient-centered care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. The RN is responsible for coordinating and delivering care to patients with complex nursing needs, ensuring safety, quality outcomes, and an exceptional patient experience.
The ED treats a wide range of cases including urgent care, psychiatric, pediatric, critical care, and trauma patients. This role requires strong clinical judgment, trauma competency, and the ability to manage multiple high-acuity patients simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care in a high-volume Emergency Department
Serve as bedside Trauma RN in the trauma room when assigned
Manage patient ratios up to 1:5
Perform advanced critical care interventions including:
Medication titration
Arterial line management
Mass transfusion protocols
Chest tube management
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care plans
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
Maintain accurate documentation in Cerner EMR
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements

Required Qualifications
Current RN license in Washington, DC (or compact license if applicable)
Minimum 3 years of Emergency Room experience
Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program
Cerner EMR experience

Certifications (Active and Current):
BLS
ACLS
PALS
TNCC
NIHSS

Preferred Qualifications : Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
