Unit: 7E SICU/MICU
Schedule: Days, 7:00 AM–7:30 PM | 3x12s | Every Other Weekend (EOW)
Unit Size: 24 beds
Average Census: 17
Duration: 13 weeks
Staffing Ratio: 1:2

Position Summary

The Clinical Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse responsible for providing safe, competent, and high-quality patient care based on nursing theory, research, evidence-based practice, and organizational nursing standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care using the nursing process and evidence-based practices.
  • Assess, evaluate, and prioritize patient care needs while applying strong critical-thinking skills.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Monitor patients and integrate appropriate assessment and intervention skills.
  • Educate patients and caregivers regarding treatment plans, transitions of care, health promotion, and disease prevention.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Perform purposeful hourly rounding and support patient-centered care initiatives.
  • Establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families while demonstrating compassion, empathy, and respect.
  • Identify and escalate patient safety concerns and barriers to quality care.
  • Participate in quality improvement, evidence-based practice, nursing research, and institutional initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough clinical documentation in accordance with hospital, regulatory, and legal standards.
  • Facilitate patient throughput and coordinate care throughout the shift.
  • Perform charge nurse responsibilities as assigned.
  • Support appropriate utilization of supplies, equipment, staffing, and other resources.
  • Participate in shared decision-making, specialty councils, committees, and professional development activities.
Required Qualifications
  • Active New York State RN License
  • BLS and ACLS
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU/Medical-Surgical experience
  • 1 year of travel nursing experience required for Travel positions; not required for Per Diem positions
  • EPIC experience highly preferred
  • Strong critical-care, assessment, and patient-management skills
Education
  • BSN preferred
  • ADN considered with relevant experience and/or active enrollment in a BSN program
