Registered Nurse – Labor and Delivery
Facility: Ardent Health Services UT Health Tyler Hospital
Location: Tyler, TX 75701
Start Date: 09/22/2026
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Night 4x12-Hour (18:00 - 06:00)
Schedule: Choice of 36 or 48 hours/week; Every Other Weekend
Patient Ratio: Labor 1:2, Ante 1:3, Mother/Baby 1:3
Charting System: Epic
Note: UT does not contract travelers residing in Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, or Morris counties.
Position Overview:
Provide specialized nursing care to laboring, antepartum, postpartum, and newborn patients in an LDRP setting, including management of high-risk deliveries, fetal monitoring, cesarean recovery, and couplet care.
Job duties:
- Monitor maternal and fetal status using external/internal fetal monitoring and recognize abnormal fetal heart rate patterns.
- Manage labor and delivery patients, including vaginal deliveries, high-risk deliveries, amnioinfusion, and hemorrhage/shock situations.
- Assist with and recover cesarean sections, including circulating and providing postoperative maternal care.
- Administer and monitor obstetric medications including Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, antihypertensives, insulin drips, and prostaglandins.
- Provide newborn and postpartum care including APGAR assessment, thermoregulation, breastfeeding support, newborn assessment, and discharge education.
Requirements:
License: State or Compact RN license.
Experience: 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience; travel experience required; first-time travelers not accepted.
Certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Beginner, AWHONN Intermediate, BLS, NRP

Unit: 5500-1307 - Labor and Delivery; LDRP
Patient Ratios: Labor 1:2; Antepartum 1:3; Mother/Baby 1:3
Patient Population: Neonates and Adults; daily census 14; 15 beds across 14 rooms
Patient Diagnoses: Antepartum/high-risk pregnancy, labor and delivery, vaginal delivery, cesarean section, postpartum hemorrhage, pregnancy-induced hypertension, multiple births, and postpartum patients
