Position Summary

The Clinical Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse responsible for providing safe, competent, high-quality, patient-centered care. The RN applies nursing theory, evidence-based practice, clinical judgment, and organizational standards to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care

• Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care using the nursing process.
• Assess and evaluate patient needs and apply critical thinking to patient care management.
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement care plans.
• Prioritize patient care, education, discharge planning, and delegation of appropriate tasks.
• Educate patients and caregivers regarding treatment plans, transitions of care, health promotion, and disease prevention.
• Maintain effective and professional communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Establish therapeutic relationships while demonstrating compassion, empathy, and respect.

Radiology Department

• Provide nursing care to patients receiving radiology-related procedures and treatments.
• Follow applicable radiation safety practices and department protocols.
• Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures and promptly identify changes in condition.
• Assist with patient preparation, recovery, and safe patient throughput.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
• Collaborate with radiology staff and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe patient care.

Quality & Safety

• Maintain a safe, efficient, patient-centered care environment.
• Identify and escalate safety concerns, clinical risks, and barriers to care.
• Follow hospital policies, regulatory requirements, evidence-based practices, and standards of care.
• Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
• Document nursing care accurately using the hospital's electronic medical record system.

Operations

• Perform charge nurse responsibilities when assigned.
• Monitor and appropriately utilize supplies, equipment, and other resources.
• Communicate staffing or resource concerns to nursing leadership.
• Facilitate patient flow and throughput during the shift.
• Ensure documentation meets hospital, legal, and regulatory standards.

Required Qualifications

• Active New York State RN License – Required
• BSN – Required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience – Required
• Minimum 2 years of ambulatory & radiation safety experience – Required
• BLS – Required
• ACLS – Required
• 1 year of travel nursing experience – Required for Travel positions
• EPIC experience – Highly Preferred
• PALS – Preferred

Education

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) – Required
• Associate Degree in Nursing may be considered only with relevant experience and/or active matriculation in a BSN program.

Must-Have Requirements

2 Years RN Experience | BSN | NYS RN License | BLS | ACLS | 2 Years Ambulatory & Radiation Safety Experience
