Position: Cardiovascular Tech I

Location: Ocean University Medical Center, City, State

Job Summary:

The Cardiovascular Tech I will assist physicians in various procedures, including Cardiac Catheterization, Angioplasty, Atherectomy, and Intra-vascular Ultrasound, among others. This role requires acquiring the necessary skills and knowledge to support the implementation of new technologies as they develop through research and innovation.

Essential Job Functions:

• Prepare sterile trays for each procedure and organize specific equipment accordingly.
• Prepare patients prior to procedures, including attaching EKG leads and performing pre-procedure scrubs.
• Assist nursing staff in patient preparation for monitoring.
• Calibrate and test transducers to ensure accurate pressure readings.
• Assist physicians throughout diagnostic and interventional procedures.
• Operate power injectors as needed.
• Maintain standards for digital cine technologies, including proper storage and retrieval of patient images and hemodynamic records.
• Ensure successful downloading of all acquisitions to the hospital mainframe for review.
• Support nursing and physician staff in emergency situations to maintain patient well-being.
• Assist in the removal of procedural sheaths post-transfer to recovery areas.
• Support the insertion of vascular closure devices to ensure inter-vascular stability.
• Assist in inventory control by reporting low supply levels to the appropriate personnel.
• Contribute to the maintenance, calibration, and periodic evaluation of diagnostic and technical equipment.
• Assist nursing and physician teams in providing supportive measures during emergencies.
• Lift a minimum of 40 lbs., push and pull a minimum of 100 lbs., and stand for at least 4 hours daily.
• Identify and address the specific needs of patients served, adapting care to factors such as age, culture, and language.
• Communicate effectively with patients, parents, or primary caregivers, adjusting to their developmental and educational levels.
• Adhere to the standards outlined in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies.

Skills and Experience:

Required Skills & Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory or invasive procedure area within an acute care hospital.
• Completion of a CVT accredited program or 2 years in a cardiac vascular laboratory.
• Familiarity with computers, hemodynamic monitoring, and sterile operative techniques.

Required Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Certifications & Licensure:

Preferred Certifications & Licensure: ARRT Certification and Radiological State License preferred.

• Shift: Day (0700-1730)
• Hours Per Week: 40
• Weekend Requirement: Call as needed
• Holiday Requirement: 1 summer / 1 winter
