Job Summary

The Cat Scan Technologist performs computer tomography procedures and related techniques, producing sectional and three-dimensional images for interpretation. The role also involves assisting with interventional and therapeutic procedures.

Essential Job Functions

• Performs complex CT procedures.
• Reviews and obtains patients' clinical history to ensure proper documentation in PACS.
• Prepares, screens, and reviews the accuracy of the contrast questionnaire with patients and/or family members.
• Identifies and administers contrast media for CT exams as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
• Verifies appropriateness of exam prescriptions and communicates with Radiologists and Referring Physicians as necessary.
• Confirms insurance authorization for exams and manages modifications for re-verification.
• Obtains and schedules outside studies (CD) in EPIC, ensuring accessibility for Radiologists.
• Provides exam copies to patients and their requesting physicians or family members.
• Evaluates radiographs using the PACS System for identification and diagnostic value.
• Gathers relevant information for protocol preparation and patient safety.
• Determines patient preparedness for procedures and implements necessary pre-scan preparations.
• Administers appropriate types and doses of contrast as needed.
• Communicates accurate explanations and instructions at appropriate times, addressing patient concerns and questions.
• Performs venipuncture, IV patency checks, and maintenance procedures.
• Monitors patients for adverse reactions during procedures.
• Maintains adherence to department policies regarding attendance and punctuality.
• Identifies and responds to the needs of diverse patient populations.

Skills & Experience

Required Skills

• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and radiological positioning.
• Understanding of the mechanical attributes of CT software and hardware.
• Proficiency with PACS systems.
• Maintains CEU Credits.
• ARRT (CT) certification required within twelve months of hire.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required within three months of hire.

Preferred Skills

• Six months of CT experience preferred.
• Familiarity with Epic and other HIS/RIS systems is an asset.

Education

Required Education

• Graduate of a Radiologic Technologist program.
• High School diploma or equivalent.

Certifications & Licensure

Required Certifications

• NJ DEP Diagnostic Radiography License.
• ARRT Certified R.T.(R) license.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.

Preferred Certifications

• ARRT Certified R.T. (CT) license preferred.

Schedule

Monday to Friday, 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM. Five 8-hour shifts per week. Availability for holidays is required.
