Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity
Location: Saratoga Springs, New York
Specialty: Registered Nurse (Telemetry)

Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Tele Float position
- Must have NY nursing license in hand
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS
- Must be able to read cardiac rhythms and pass a hospital proctored test with >80% accuracy in rhythm identification and 100% accuracy on critical rhythms
- Epic charting experience required
- Minimum 2 years nursing experience
- At least 1 year current experience with telemetry patient population
- Critical drip and CVA experience a plus
- Flu vaccine or approved exemption required
- Patient ratio approximately 1:4-5
- Telemetry skills essential
Local Hiring Rule
- Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of Saratoga Springs, NY
- Excluded counties include: Warren, Washington, Fulton, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Albany, Columbia, Greene, Dutchess, Ulster
Required Certifications & Testing
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – preferably AHA or Red Cross
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or Red Cross; AHA only for Labor & Delivery
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – preferred from AHA or Red Cross
- EKG/ECG Testing:
- Must pass advanced EKG/ECG test with 90% overall and 100% on lethal rhythms within 72 hours of contract signing
- Up to 3 attempts allowed with remediation and retesting process
- NIH Stroke Certification – required for certain units; may be assigned during orientation if not on file
- Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam – must meet passing score
- Color Blind Testing – preferred
- Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training – NY State mandated for all RNs and LPNs
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start; onsite physical required with specific medical history form
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; 2-step PPD required with second step read before start
- Immunizations or titers required for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or vaccine series)
- 10 Panel Drug Screen within 60 days of start (specific lab requirements apply)
- Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required by December 5, 2024; mask required if exempt
- COVID-19 vaccinations preferred but not mandated
- Eye exam including Ishihara color deficiency test required prior to start
- Fit mask testing (N95 OSHA questionnaire and fit test) required; quantitative fit test only accepted for 3M 1870 mask
Orientation & Facility Specific Requirements
- Completion of virtual general orientation and clinical testing modules via HealthStream prior to start
- Facility-specific documents and assessments required, including:
- Lift assessment (typically 25lb, may vary by position)
- FCRA Authorization Release
- ECG Study Guide review
- TSH Medical History form
- PPD Questionnaire
- Religious exemption request for flu vaccine if applicable
References
- 2 professional references required for travel, allied, and per diem acute care roles
- 1 professional reference required for per diem non-acute care roles
This position requires strong telemetry skills, advanced cardiac life support certification, and the ability to pass rigorous rhythm identification testing. Candidates must meet strict health and immunization requirements and comply with local residency restrictions.
