Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Pittsfield, Massachusetts
Specialty: Registered Nurse – Nights, Labor & Delivery (L&D)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Night shift L&D Registered Nurse position
  • Must have a current Massachusetts RN license

Required Licenses & Certifications

  • Massachusetts RN License (proof required)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA or Red Cross preferred; required for all candidates
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): AHA (preferred) or ARC; required for L&D and other critical units
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): AHA or Red Cross preferred; not required for ICU
  • Other certifications as applicable (e.g., CNOR for RNFA, TNCC preferred for ER)

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Emergency Contact Form prior to start
  • CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) release
  • Standard background check including 7-year search of locations lived/worked/schooled, sex offender registry, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks (updated annually)
  • Massachusetts Nurse Aide Registry Search (state-specific requirement)

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit testing with 3M N95 Model 1860 mask (required for all units including OR)
  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years (with site and lot number)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (QuantiFERON Gold, Tspot, or 2-step PPD)
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccine doses (declinations require doctor’s note)
  • Hepatitis B: Positive titer required; declination only accepted with low titer and completion of facility-specific declination form
  • Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or history of chickenpox
  • 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant screens not accepted)
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved exemption (mask required if exempt)
  • COVID-19 Vaccination: Proof required prior to start; annual vaccination required with booster doses as applicable
  • COVID-19 Medical or Religious Exemptions require facility approval

Competency & Testing Requirements

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (minimum 80% or Angoff score)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (required for MS/Tele units)
  • Pass/Fail testing on EKG/medications on first day of orientation (remediation possible if failed)
  • Color blind testing (Ishihara test) required for certain units (e.g., Renal, CCU, ED)

Facility Specifics

  • Scrub color: Any color acceptable; scrubs provided for OR
  • Photo for badge: Headshot with grey background, no selfies or professional photos, saved as JPG
  • Flu and COVID-19 exemption forms must be completed if applicable
  • TB questionnaire required if positive TB test
  • Hepatitis B declination form required if declining vaccine

References & Documentation

  • Two professional references required (within 3 years of start) for travel, allied, and per diem acute care roles
  • Annual skills checklist required

This position requires compliance with all listed licensure, certification, health, and competency requirements prior to start.
