Description

Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Maryville, Tennessee
Specialty: Registered Nurse (Labor & Delivery)
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Requirements

  • Active RN license in Tennessee
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery (L&D) experience (no first-time travelers)
  • Must have 1 year of EPIC experience
  • Certifications required:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
    • AWHONN Intermediate
  • Floating to other units may be required based on skill set
  • Weekend coverage and on-call duties required

Clinical Skills & Special Procedures

  • Triage assessments
  • Inductions
  • Cesarean sections
  • External versions
  • Non-Stress Tests (NSTs)
  • Circumcisions
  • Newborn resuscitation/stabilization
  • Magnesium Sulfate administration

Orientation & Training

  • Completion of online modules within 72 hours of assignment (approx. 12 hours) required before start
  • Pass/Fail testing (medication and arrhythmia exams) required prior to orientation
  • 16 hours of non-billable orientation onsite

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

Licensure & Certifications

  • Active Tennessee RN license with primary source verification within 30 days of start
  • Current certifications for BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate, and others as applicable
  • Additional certifications may include:
    • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - AWHONN required
    • STABLE (for L&D and NICU)
    • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) and ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) as applicable
    • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) or CPI for certain units
    • NIH Stroke Certification for applicable units
    • Lactation Certificate for Women’s RN candidates (L&D, Mother/Baby)

Background Checks & Screening

  • 7-year background check within 12 months of start
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and every 30 days thereafter
  • Fingerprinting required if applicable (e.g., if lived/worked in WV in last 7 years)
  • Drug screening within 1 year of start, updated annually (5-panel minimum)
  • Immunizations and health screenings including:
    • Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet job demands
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days of start
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years if working in high-risk areas
    • Flu vaccine or approved exemption required annually (not required for 100% remote)
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity documentation required
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series, positive titer, or signed declination

Competency & Training Exams

  • Annual medication and pharmacology competency exams
  • Core training parts I, II, and III annually (including OSHA, patient safety, ethics, etc.)
  • Color blindness testing for ED and Pediatric ER nurses
  • Pass/fail testing for EKG and medication knowledge prior to start

Facility Specific Requirements

  • Badge photo meeting specific criteria required before start
  • Floating policy acknowledgment required annually
  • Completion of facility-specific compliance checklist
  • Internal evaluations and performance evaluations required if applicable

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must carry a valid driver’s license for computer access setup
  • No first-time travelers; must have prior L&D experience
  • Floating to other units is based on skill set and required
  • Weekend and on-call coverage required
  • Prisma Health is a latex-free environment

This position is ideal for experienced L&D RNs with strong EPIC skills and required certifications, ready to work in a dynamic hospital setting with floating responsibilities and weekend/on-call coverage.
